How Does Microcurrent Work?

Microcurrent treatments work by stimulating the fine facial muscles with small amounts of electricity that trigger a chemical reaction that strengthens and restore normal frequencies within the cells, resulting in remarkable improvements in inflammation and function. Microcurrent re-educates the muscles in the face and increases circulation to improve tone and firmness of the skin. Best of all, results are cumulative. It also bumps up protein synthesis, which is necessary for tissue repair.  Clinical studies have shown that after twenty days of treatment collagen production increases by 14%, elastin increases by 48%, and amino acids and adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by up to 500%, which accelerates cell repair and promotes healthier cell production.

10-15 consecutive sessions of medical grade microcurrent for the face and neck are required in order to achieve optimal results. The cumulative effect these sessions is designed to aid the after effects of surgical facelift, Botox and normal aging. In a client in their 30’s, the treatment is preventative, but later in life it can be used to strengthen muscle and skin to show dramatic improvement.

Does It Hurt?

When you undergo microcurrent therapy, you sit comfortably while electrodes are placed at strategic locations to direct the currents to the targeted tissues. A hydrating, nourishing gel is applied to conduct the current. While you may feel tiny muscle twitches, minor shocks here and there, the treatment is painless, but may be uncomfortable around the mouth area. Most of the sensations are sub-sensory, so many clients feel nothing.  However, it is not recommended for patients who have pacemakers, are pregnant or have epilepsy. If you are getting injectables like fillers and Botox you must wait two weeks to get a microcurrent facial.

How Much Does It Cost?

A treatment course typically involves 10-15 sessions depending on your skin condition and lifestyle and benefits accrue over time. Although you will see visible results on your first treatment, your complexion will continue to improve with time, and you’ll notice the best results about 20 days after your first treatment.  Typically clients will notice approximately a 3-5 year reduction in facial age. Microcurrent is an affordable treatment that is well worth the investment in restoring your youthful appearance.  At time consultation, we will discuss your treatment plan that will suit well with your goals and budget.

  • Drink plenty of water beforehand and after treatment to hydrate the skin for better results.

Microcurrent is Complementary to Botox, Fillers and Outstanding Healing of Post-Operation Surgeries

Microcurrent and Injectables Utilizing both technologies maximize the end result. Fillers give a quick and effective (filling effect) diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, they do nothing for muscle contour, natural collagen or elastin production, all of which are addressed with microcurrent. Many doctors find it necessary to sculpt and contour the muscles of the face to maximize and complete the effect of fillers. Recommended microcurrent treatment after Botox and fillers is 2 weeks after. A lot of clients and doctors see prolonged effects of Botox when using in conjunction with microcurrent. Because of the healing properties that microcurrent possess, it also is recognized as the tool of choice by surgeons for pre and post-op applications.
